HOW TO PACKAGE FOOD PRODUCT TO GET THE BEST MARKET USING HAND SEALING MACHINE

It is no longer news in food science and engineering that food product requires different stages from processing to packaging.
From the very moment food is set to be produced, technology sets in because all processing stages require technology. If the food needs to be grounded or grinded, blender or pulping machine would be used for grounding to paste, if juice would be extracted, the juice extractor machine would be used. The aim of processing food is to give it another form, make it eatable and pleasing, for commercial purpose and for extending their shelf life. The need to store food for a longer time and also in a pleasing and attractive manner was what gave birth to sealing of processed food. Sealing of food means to apply heat and pressure on the material used for packaging so it would not rip open easily. When a package is sealed, there is no way it will not be damaged when it is opened, take a look at our soft drinks, biscuits and so on, once they are opened, there is no way they wouldn’t be damaged and one can easily spot that they have been tampered with.
Food products are packaged in the food processing lab mainly for safety and maintaining it’s nutritional value and for easy transport. Take a look at processed custard or yam flour, if exposed to air, the taste will be tampered with, if packaged anyhow especially in a wet container, then they will become sticky and bacteria will grow on them. They are mostly stored in nylons or air tight containers
Sealing also lead to beautification of what was used for packaging the products. We can find beautiful drawings and arts on the container or nylon foods are packaged with, and the brand name visible for identification. The only problem with the sealing machine is people tend to burn their packaging materials when trying to seal them.
This is an easy step on how to efficiently seal your products at home without ruining it.
- Note that the hand sealers contains the sealing bars where the products are placed to be sealed
- Open the bar and connect the sealer to power source
- Let it heat up a little, if by chance you place your hand over the frame and you feel too much heat, turn it off and wait for it to cool a bit
- Place the product to be sealed on the sealing bars and set the place you want to be sealed, then close the bar
- Allow the heat and pressure to pass through the material so it can be fused together for several seconds which depends on the material for packaging.
- If the other edge left out before sealing is too much, trim it off to desired length, just make sure it doesn’t tamper with where you sealed.

With this step, one can easily seal the products we processed at home either for family consumption or for commercial purpose. This is also a way to keep food products hygienic. Technology has really saved our existence.
